Graduation Checklist Fall 2022

 

Before Convocation Checklist (1-2 months in advance)

Please note that you must have access to the NCToronto Student Portal and CANVAS.

 

1. NAME CHECK: Carefully check your name as it appears in CANVAS.

When:
Before October 1, 2022 (Name change deadline date).

How:
Log in to your CANVAS account and review your "Name” under your account in the top left corner.

If required, please request all name changes/corrections by emailing studentservices@niagaracollegetoronto.ca. Please use your NCT email address and include your student identification (ID) number in the email, as well as use Convocation Name Change as the subject line.


2. RSVP: Let us know whether or not you are able to attend your ceremony.

When:
Between October 1st to October 15th, 2022 (RSVP deadline date).

How:
Email us at studentservices@niagaracollegetoronto.ca. Please use Fall Convocation RSVP in the subject line.

  • If you are not attending your ceremony, please RSVP "not attending".
  • If you are attending your ceremony, know your ceremony date and time. You can find Your Ceremony Date and Time on our website. Kindly note you may only attend the ceremony at which your degree is being conferred, you may not attend alternate or future ceremonies.

3. If you are attending your ceremony please reserve your convocation gown & hood.

When:
Between October 1st (10 AM) and October 15th (4:30 PM).

How:
Via the RSVP form you will receive by email. Please ensure that you select the correct gown size. The gown and hood are required to process your RSVP and guest tickets.


4. If you are attending your ceremony, order your guest tickets if required (up to a maximum of two) after you RSVP.

When:
Between October 1st (10 AM) and October 15th (4:30 PM).

How:
By completing the RSVP form that will be sent via your student email.

An RSVP is mandatory to attend convocation. Please note that unfortunately guest tickets cannot be guaranteed if you miss the RSVP deadline. Graduating students do not require a ticket to attend their ceremony. Every student who requests tickets during the RSVP period will receive tickets, a gown and hood.


5. Notify our office if you require an accommodation.

When:
Between October 1st (10 AM) and October 15th (4:30 PM).

How:
Contact the contact the Student Services team at studentservices@niagaracollegetoronto.ca.

Please use your NCT email address and include your student identification (ID) number in the email. If you know you require an accommodation that requires advance planning or reservations (for example, an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter), please do not wait until the RSVP deadline and contact our office as soon as possible


6. Notify our office if you have a guest(s) requiring an accommodation, such as accessibility seating.

When:
Between October 1st (10 AM) and October 15th (4:30 PM).

How:
Indicate that you have a guest requiring accommodation when you RSVP and order guest tickets or contact the Student Services Department at studentservices@niagaracollegetoronto.ca. Please use your NCT email address and include your student number in the email.


7. Download or print your guest tickets.

When:
Guest tickets will be emailed to you on October 24th, 2022. Guests without tickets will unfortunately not be admitted. Do not forget to give the tickets to your guests (you, as the graduating student, do not require a ticket).

On the day of your convocation

 

1. Ensure that your guests have their tickets.

Guest tickets will be emailed to your NCT student email as of 10 AM on October 25th, 2022. Kindly note that guests without tickets will not be admitted, extra guests without tickets cannot be accommodated, and there are no stand-by options. If you are having any issues with your tickets please email studentservices@niagaracollegetoronto.ca.

2. Arrive at the gown pickup location.

Please arrive at least an hour and a half (90 minutes) prior to the start of the ceremony to pick up your gown and hood. The pick-up location will be communicated to you via your student email. Please do not bring personal items (purses, coats, cameras) as there is no secure storage space in the gowning area.

3. Go to the assembly room.

Please arrive at the assembly room one hour and fifteen minutes prior to start of the ceremony. There you will receive instructions from the ushers and be lined up to process into Convocation Hall 30 minutes before the ceremony begins.

4. Return your gown and hood following your convocation ceremony.

After the conclusion of your ceremony please bring your gown and hood in-person to the gowning room to avoid additional charges.

NOTE: To ensure your participation in the ceremony, please arrive by the times provided. Due to the complex arrangements involved in arranging a successful ceremony, there is no guarantee you will be able to join the ceremony if you arrive late.
